These drawings were made while I was in residence at the National Museum of Natural History.
Passenger Pigeons were once plentiful in the U.S., but became extinct when the last one died in the Cincinnati Zoo in 1914. The year 2014 was the 100th anniversary of its extinction.
The Toucan had been folded into a particularly unnatural posture, when it was collected by the Natural History Museum.
